He got me started well before looking at homes, educating me, as a first time buyer, on all my different loan options and potential buys; fixer upper vs. turn key. Shane assisted us first in our acquisition of a residential property for investment. He was instrumental in helping us close a complex deal. Shane stayed very involved as we started the rehab phase of the project and remained accessible throughout our “extreme make-over.” When it was time to put the house back on the market, we turned to Shane as our sales agent.

Shane was diligent in getting the house listed, facilitated getting photos, established a website for house and coordinated open-houses and all other showings. His counsel on property value and how to present the property for maximum affect was spot-on. His follow-up with buyer agents, negotiations with interested buyers and keeping us informed was timely and thorough. The handling of the final transaction was all handled electronically and could not have been easier.

He was always available to show us homes we wanted to see and kept us informed during all steps in the buying and selling process. His biggest challenge was arranging for both homes to close on the same day so that we would be able to move from one to the other without interruption. Shane pulled this off seamlessly. We signed paperwork in the morning, went and took a quick nap, and moved into the new home that afternoon. Great experience!

Shane was knowledgeable every step of the way. He was realistic and optimistic when it came to negotiating. I asked that we list at a higher price, he agreed to list it at the price I thought but told me that he did not think it would get many hits at that list price. With time agreed to drop it and it ended up selling exactly where he originally told me it would…wish i would have listened to him in the beginning! He was available for all my questions with in minutes. I would highly recommend him!

Shane was so helpful in our house buying and selling experience. He took the time to meet with us and go over the selling process and gave us a good understanding on the market. We went out on a limb to look at houses and decided to buy and sell overnight. He gave us advice on how to present our home for showings and kept us informed the entire time. Our house sold fast and was pretty worry free! He has followed up with us after the move to make sure everything is going smoothly. We really appreciate all his help! Shane went above and beyond as my realtor. I live on the West side and was looking for property on the East side. After we looked at several properties together, he developed a very good understanding of what I was looking for. On several occasions, he had a property he thought I should see, but because of timing, work schedule or other reasons, I would be unable to make the trip. Shane went to the property, videotaped it for me and then posted it on YouTube so I could look at it in a timely manner and decide if I wanted to put an offer on the property. Shane was very professional in all of our dealings and I have no reservations about highly recommending him to anyone looking for a “crackerjack” realtor!!! He is outstanding, ethical and the best realtor I have ever worked with!!!

Shane helped me buy my first home using my VA loan. He patiently walked me through the entire process (several times). This was a short sale home and he was proactive in the process by calling for updates without me having to press for information. If there was a question he didn’t have an immediate answer, he found the answer and got back to me quickly. Just by knowing he’s on your side, it makes the itimidating process of buying a home very comfortable. Two thumbs up!

As I look at the election this year as a member of SEVRAR and the candidates that we have running for office; I always try and consider who might best serve our members given the challenges facing our business and industry today.

My purpose in starting the SEVRAR Leadership program with the support of the Board years ago was to try and get more members involved and to provide a complete overview of the many facets of our business that we too often ignore. This includes, ARMLS, ADRE, AAR and Political action all the while with a goal of increasing professionalism through our member ranks. I am proud to say that many current members of our board and committees have graduated from SEVRAR leadership in the past several years and I am humbled by all of their contributions.

Shane Cook is running for the position of Vice-President this year; he has the background and experience to assist in leading our organization. One key aspect of his background is his knowledge of commercial transactions which will serve us well as we move forward with our new building and those related challenges. His background is very similar to my own as I began my career with a business background and was first involved with SEVRAR at the Community service level and helping folks and our community.

I have known Shane for several years. Shane and I worked together at United Brokers Group and he has been a valued member of the SEVRAR Board of Directors for the last three years. But, Shane has done so much more than being a dedicated Board member. Here are but a few of his contributions to the members of SEVRAR: Shane has been a driving force in raising money for the Critical Needs fund, which provides desperately needed resources to SEVRAR members when they are faced with illness or tragedy. There has been a heavy demand on the Critical Needs Fund and Shane has taken it upon himself over the last few years to do all he can to ensure the fund is replenished by selling bracelets $5.00 at a time.

Shane has also devoted countless hours to the Building Task Force, which was charged with finding the new location for SEVRAR. This was an enormous endeavor! The process took more than 2 years. Shane gave his time and expert knowledge to ensure that the SEVRAR members would have the very best home possible.

In addition, Shane is a RAPAC Major Investor, a graduate of the SEVRAR Leadership Program, he served as the Chair of YPN, as well as having served on many other SEVRAR committees. Shane has also been a tireless volunteer for countless SEVRAR events. He has made the SEVRAR members a priority in his life.

Finally, Shane is a dedicated REALTOR, who understands the day-to-day challenges of REALTORS in the marketplace. It is my belief that Shane will serve the members exceedingly well as your 2017 Vice President.

I have had the honor of working with Shane on the New building Task Force, the SEVRAR Board of Directors, and as the Committee Chair of YPN, while I served as the President of SEVRAR. He is a forward thinking individual and emphasizes the wants and needs of the SEVRAR member first in all of his decisions in order to make this association one of the best in the Nation.
